After my talk to the U.T. pharmacy students and the little art/clay exercise, I got an idea for a pharmacy plaque using the “ Rx” symbol; but, with a novel twist. Below are my recent efforts working with a new media for me, resin, plastic and stainless steel.
If you appreciate your personal pharmacist or if a family member is, or was a pharmacist, they might relish a novel, personalized Rx plaque ( 5.5 in. x 8.5in.) as a token birthday, retirement, Christmas or otherwise gift of appreciation. Email me.
This is a red, acrylic, transparent plaque with “Rx” letters embedded with pills, capsules & random objects like coins.
I pushed the idea beyond the plaque to a 3D sculpture in Genie the Pharmakon piece.
Pharmakon in Greek means “drug” or “medicine”. It signifies both healing and harmful properties, embodying a paradox. It is relevant today because it continues to influence discussions on pharmaceuticals and ethics in medicine.
