10TH Anniversary of Madre Sculpture. Mission : to cast it in bronze

Help Make Madre in Bronze

Many of you already know Madre.

The stone sculpture has traveled to several places over the past few years, and many people in the community have seen it in person or followed its path. It’s a piece that means a great deal to me, and I’ve been deeply grateful for the way it has resonated with so many people.

Now I’m hoping to take the next step with the sculpture: casting Madre in bronze.

Casting the piece in bronze would allow it to exist in a more permanent form and open the possibility for it to live in public spaces for many years to come. For a small independent artist, however, the foundry and casting process is a significant investment.

We need your help to bring this next version of the sculpture into the world.

Every contribution goes directly toward the bronze casting and foundry costs needed to complete the piece. Click the donate button or ,if you prefer, mail check to

Life drawing class, 2019.

Teacher : Jill Thrasher ,Austin Community College, Cedar Park campus

The assignment was to put up a blank sheet of paper, glue on some pieces of colored tissue randomly , as much as we wanted, let it dry . Then we had to draw the model over the whole sheet. After it dried, we carefully removed the excess pieces of colored paper tissue that were not stuck to the drawing paper. Voila , you see the areas that were covered have no charcoal or ink. Coincidently, there is a blank , a color-free zone around the eyes after the loose tissue paper is removed, thus giving the impression of a person without eyes or something, scales? covering the eyes.
