I had an old tile figure that was damaged by a falling tree limb in 2023. I repaired it and I installed it on 3/16/24

… And then one day, I decided to exhibit my sculptures out in front of my studio, Dec. 8, 2023

The Apropos of Umlauf show 9/7/23 to 11/26/23

I was one of the first artist to deliver my work to the Exhibit . This video was taken before the exhibit was fully installed.

The Umlaf Museum launched a call for artists to propose work in any media that is apropos of Umlauf. I was one of the eighteen local artists selected.

As a student at Austin Community College, I received recognition from the Texas Association of schools of Art in Texas for a sculpture and a painting in 2023. This is a state wide university and college level competition. We compete with the likes of U.T. , Texas A & M, Baylor, essentially all universities, colleges and Junior colleges, etc. in Texas. This was my second acceptance in two years.

Creating Art from a branch of history : the Cabinet Oak Project

More than 100 artists entered the national call for entries for the Cabinet Oak Project, a juried art exhibition that reimagines history in support of the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park.

Invited artists will use pieces from a fallen branch of the historic Cabinet Oak, a 300-year-old tree adjacent to the historic “Texas White House” on the LBJ Ranch, to create an eclectic range of pieces representing a wide range of artistic practices, genres, techniques and media.

Katie Robinson Edwards, Ph.D., Executive Director and Curator of the Umlauf Sculpture Garden, will serve as the juror and selected invited artists to participate.

I guess I got carried away. I had to cut off 2 sections of the log that I picked and received for my project; and, after I had finished the large, major piece , Bison Spirit, I had two ideas for the left over sections . One was to carve a heart and the other was to carve a parrot. Happy to report that all three sculptures were sold on May 6, 2023

Austin Bergstrom International Airport, Gate 12, July 2021 to July 2022.
This is the first sculpture of parrots that I carved in 2020. On the suggestion of my doctor, Dr. Wollan, I contacted the airport about showing it there. They accepted it.
After that, I decided to enter this idea to the TEMPO ‘21 COMPETITION and they asked me to create something like it which turned out to be another parrot sculpture with blue tile highlights in Oct. 2021.

Flashback: I completed this oil painting in 2000. In 2013, Sister Penny Dunn purchased it in Austin while it was on exhibit at the Diocesan Chancery. It was needed for the ribbon cutting event of a new wing at the CHI St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan , Tx. I did not get to see where it was eventually placed. In May , 2021, my grandson ,Dean Jones graduated from Texas A & M which is in College Station , Tx . and I made it a point to locate the final resting place for this painting. As you go into the main entrance of the Hospital, it is on a wall immediately to your left in front of the elevators. I always thought of Mother Theresa as a living saint before she died. — Flashback: I completed this oil painting in 2000. Juried into 2003 National Sculpture Society’s Awards exhibition at the Park Avenue Atrium in New York ;and, then it was moved to Brookgreen Gardens in South Carolina. I was not able to personally attend to the Awards Exhibition so all I have is a photo of the National Sculpture Society News Bulletin with a small picture of my work.
